First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach, Virginia is the perfect backdrop for a family portrait session.
The woods are luscious, and it is so fun to adventure around with a family in them!
This precious little family! Ashley and Jason have two adorable boys, and this fall family session was so much fun. We adventured around First Landing State Park with them for their family session.
The boys had such a great time getting to run around, picking up leaves and sticks, and really just getting to be boys! My goal is always to keep family sessions relaxed and comfortable, especially when small children are involved. Maintaining that relaxed, lifestyle environment really helps the photos feel natural and not stiff.
Their attention span is only so long, and in order to keep their attention, we have to mix it up and make family portraits a fun game!
Playing games like Simon Says are always fun with small children. First Landing State Park makes the perfect environment for this, because there is so much room to play!
During the end of the session once we completed family portraits, Jason and Ashley were able to get in a few photos of their own!
I always make a point to sneak mom and dad away during family sessions, after all it is their love that created their family! It’s the perfect way to remind them of their previous season of dating and engagements, before family life began!
Family update: since this session took place, Ashley and Jason have added a beautiful baby girl to their crew! Congratulations you two, I’m so happy for your growing family!
