The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing is an incredible wedding venue!
A few weeks ago we had the privilege of of capturing Gina and Derek at this beautiful wedding venue in Richmond Virginia. This wedding was our first time at the Boathouse at Rocketts Landing, and we couldn’t believe how unique it was.
Gina and Derek chose the outdoor ceremony location because the space sat right along the beautiful James River.
The modern architecture of the building served as a stunning backdrop.
I met Gina and Derek for the first time at a small restaurant in Richmond. We talked like old friends over brunch, then spent the afternoon taking their engagement photos. We wandered around Cary Street, and they finished the night off cuddled under a blanket with hot cocoa on a pedestrian bridge.
Seriously – does it get any more romantic than that?!
On the morning of their wedding, Gina got ready in her home, while Derek and some of his closest friends relaxed at the Omni Hotel in Richmond.
Gina’s style is modern, clean, and elegant – which matches the aesthetic of the Boathouse at Rocketts Landing perfectly. The couple chose to opt out of having traditional bridal parties, which was something meaningful to them.
I really love it when my couples decide to be true to themselves, even when that means stepping outside of some of those standard traditions.
After all, it is their wedding day, and it will be their partnership in marriage. Sticking to what is true to them will serve them so well in the long run of marriage!
Once Gina was dressed and ready, she invited her father in for a first look.
I knowww I’m not supposed to cry while I’m working – but how do you hold the tears back from something as precious as this?! I have yet to figure that out because the tears always flow during these sentimental moments!
Then, the next sweetest thing ever happened when Gina’s mom came around the corner.
Gina’s father was in awe, and in that moment Gina’s parents embraced each other. They shared quiet tears of joy after seeing their baby girl all dressed to be married to the love of her life.
Cake cutting was sweet, but let’s get onto the PARTY!
Gina and Derek, it was an honor to be a part of your day, and we cannot wait to follow along with your journey of love and marriage!
Also, a special thank you to these wonderful vendors who made Gina and Derek’s day a beautiful success!
